Greece

Greece is a European country known for its natural beauty and fascinating history. The country consists of more than 1,400 island and islets, but only 10% of them are populated. Greece has been rated as 15th top most tourist destinations of the world. More than 15 million tourist visits Greece each year. Historical sites, ancient ruins, mountainous landscapes, fine weather, beautiful island, fabulous resorts and long sandy beaches, makes Greece a prime tourist destination.    

Some of the most popular tourist attractions in Greece are Athens- one of oldest city in the world and has archeological sites, Rhodes, Corfo, Cornith, Crete, Delphi, Island of Santorini, The Acropolis in Athens, Temple of Apollo, Temple of Zeus, Olympia site, Olympia Museum, Crete island and much more.

Islands of Santorini: Santorini, is a group of island that came into existence as a result of intensive volcanic activity thousands of years ago. Actually the Santorini island is still an active volcano and probably the only volcano in the world whose crater is in the sea. Santorini islands is very attractive because of its black/ red or white sand beaches, spectacular rock formation, impressive landscape and volcanic pebbles. Islands of Santorini is also known as romantic gateway of Greece.


The Acropolis: The Acropolis means ‘City on a hill’, a great crag of limestone rising out of the plain of Attica.  History of Acropolis dates from 5th century BC. Initially Acropolis served both as the stronghold of the kings of Athens and as the site of the sacred shrine. 

Olympia site: Olympia is an ancient sanctuary stands at the foot of Mt Kronos in area of gentle hills. The original site of the Olympic games, the site of Olympia is one of the great achievements of archeological excavation. Other attractions of Olympia site include Temple of Zeus, Heraion, Temple of Hera, Fountain House, Olympia Museum, Sacred Precinct, etc.   

Olympia Museum: Olympia Museum is one of the main museums of Greece, which has large collection of pottery, bronze antiques and sculptures. The rooms are laid out around the central hall of the museum containing the pediment sculpture and metopes from the temple of Zeus. The museum also has treasuries of Gela, literature and material related to the Games.

Corfu: Corfu is the most important and beautiful island located at the coast of Albania and the Greek area of Epirus. The beauty of its scenery, with gentle green hills in the south and rough limestone hills in the north is outstanding. Corfu is a popular tourist place because of its mild climate and its abundant southern vegetation.

Food: Greek Potatoes- roasted potatoes, Greek lamb with potatoes and olives, Gigantes plaki, Greek lamb with orzo, pasta salad, Greek Ekmek Kataifi- custard and cream pastry, Beef stifado- a Greek beef stew. 

Climate: In Greece winters (from December to March) are mild and rainy with temperatures some time dropping below 0 C, whereas summers (from June to September) are long and dry with temperatures soaring to 40 C.
